Relay For Life: "Why I Relay," Alexa Papaila

Hi All,

I can't believe it, Relay is just two weeks away. Everything is going really well and we, all of us on the planning committee, are getting really excited for all the great entertainment we have planned and all of the money we have raised. Once we have a set schedule of events and activities I will be sure to let you all know so that you can figure out which parts of the great night you want to attend. Remember also that it's not too late to sign up and register to join an existing team or start your own, you can register a team up until the event!!

Hey Everyone,

Sorry that it has been a few days. I, like the rest of you have recently gotten an incredible amount of work. But just a quick recap about Relay: all night event, April 28-29, 7pm-7am, walk around the track and raise money for a good cause. See some great bands, eat some great food and just have some fun to take a break from finals. Check out the website for more information about the event, raising/donating money, sponsoring/starting/joining a team or just general information.

Hey Everyone!

Relay For Life: It's getting closer, less than a month away and I really hope that you all are getting as excited as I am! It is going to be such a fun all night event!! To briefly explain what Relay is again...Relay is the American Cancer Society's chief fundraiser for Cancer Research. The goal is to instill a sense of hope that one day cancer will be beat. It is an all night event where teams raise sponsorship money and then have at least one person walking around the track all night. Interspersed throughout is entertainment, a DJ, bands, school performance groups. There will be lots of food for sale and other fun goodies. The date and time is Vanderbilt Track, 7PM, April 28 till 7AM, April 29! So come on out and support! Emily Kurtz is the survivorship chair on Vanderbilt's Relay For Life Committee and she shares a very personal "Why I Relay" with everyone:

Relay For Life: "Why I Relay," Kelly Eichman

Hi All!

I have been so wrapped up in getting personal stories for you all that I have completely forgotten to remind everyone what exactly Relay For Life is, and I apologize. I spent my first couple weeks on the committee having absoultely no clue what Relay actually was, and believe me, once I found out I was much more excited to have a role. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's biggest fundraiser. It is an all night event where teams of people, 10-15, create a theme, stake out a plot and walk around the track. The ultimate goal is to have at least one team member on the track at all times. Teams raise money by asking for sponsorship, through mailings, emails, and any other sort of fundraising activities that they can think of. Therefore, you should all keep your eyes and ears open for fun Relay fundraisers around campus. I'll obviously keep you updated as well. Anyway, throughout the evening there are various activities such as a ceremony to remember those who lost their fight, and celebrating survivors. There is live entertainment a DJ the whole night and live music interspersed. There will be activities, performances from campus groups, food, beverages (the event is alcohol free) and just a whole lot of entertainment. The event is scheduled to start at 7pm on April 28 and end 12 glorious, fun-filled, hours later at 7am, April 29.
