I suppose it’s fitting on this Halloween night in for me to update everyone on my trip last weekend to Cork for the Cork Jazz Festival.

If you’ll pardon the lame rhyming headline, I’ll tell you a bit about my side trip to Versailles a couple weeks ago.

Got back today from a trip to Cork--more on that in another post. I do need to update everyone still reading this blog about my trip last weekend to Paris.

So the last two weeks have been a bit hectic for me. Lots of assignments at school (yes, I do go to class now and then) plus a trip to Paris last weekend are my excuses for my lack of blogging.

Today’s voting day here in the Republic. The rest of Europe will be watching this Lisbon Treaty referendum very closely.

I mentioned in my first post on my weekend trip that my most awesome experience in Ireland so far happened on Inishmore. The place was Dún Aengus, an ancient fort built by the Celtic people who inhabited the island thousands of years ago. We rode our bikes up to the base of the site, but we had to walk up to the top. It wasn't a bad walk at all, but since I wasn't entirely sure what we were going to see, it seemed a bit excessive at the time. We ran into some people from our group on the way up, who said it was absolutely amazing, so that got me a little excited.

I spent most of Saturday and Sunday on the Aran Islands; more specifically, on the largest of the Galway Bay islands, Inishmore (known locally by its more proper name, Árainn). It was a great weekend with beautiful sights, great craic, and hanging out with many of the American friends I've made so far.

I said I would have pictures up last night, but by the end of the day, I was a bit worn out, so here they are now. I don't have much to say about my bus tour through Connemara, only that it really did live up to expectations as one of the most beautiful areas of Ireland.

I'm not sure, but this place could have some connection to the Irish side of my family. The name of the pub is Tigh Neachtain, or Naughton's Pub. It's a hotspot in Galway's city centre for trad, and it's been on this spot since the 19th century.
