Psychological birth control

I've noticed something lately at drug stores.  And it isn't just happening at one store, either; I've noticed this at a few drug stores.

The condoms' section of the racks is located at the end of the aisle for baby equipment and children's toys.

Vanderbilt Loves Animals

Last night we had our first meeting for the new community service group, Vanderbilt Loves Animals.  It was a lot of fun, and it sounds like we have a lot of great projects to work on.  I'm excited, because I love, LOVE working with animals.

Series

Today I discovered that Showtime is making a series out of one of my favorite books, "Darkly Dreaming Dexter."  It's an unusual book, along the lines of "Silence of the Lambs" or "Hannibal," but I enjoyed it; then again, I like horror (at least in fiction).  The book is about a psychopath who kills other psychopaths, which does not describe the archetypal hero.  Dexter, the main character, is extremely likeable, despite the fact that he's a serial killer.  I'm surprised that Showtime is making a series out of this, since I wouldn't think that it would be to most people's taste.  Also, since we don't get showtime at Vandy, I'm sad, since I can't see it.  Then again, I can't see it as a book that adapts to television easily, so I guess I won't be missing much; I'm always anal about stdios making movies or tv shows out of my favorite books, since they're never the way I imagined them to be (strangely, the big studios don't call me up to ask my opinion).  Oh well, maybe they'll put it online and I'll be able to see the pilot!  I highly recommend the book, but only to fans of the horror genre (there is a good deal of blood, gore, violence, and horror).
