Vanderbilt students should welcome immigrants.

When most students think of Nashville, country music or the Titans come to mind, not immigration. According to a survey from the State Department, since 2002 over 3,100 refugees have immigrated to Nashville. One fortunate outcome of the English-only initiative was that many Nashvilleans started considering the difficulties of newcomers to the city.

Adoption ban should be delayed

Recently Sen. Paul Stanley proposed legislation that “prohibits any individual who is cohabitating in a sexual relationship outside of marriage that is valid under the constitution and law of this state from adopting a minor.” This of course does not target homosexual families specifically, but it is obvious that such familial units would be affected by the ban.
