Before the madness of Santigold, Q-Tip and T.I., a less famous musician, K'naan, lit up the Rites stage. His performance, however, was just as entertaining as the later shows Friday night. K'naan, with his unique sound bordering both hip-hop and rap, had the audience dancing and waving their hands to music from his older album "The Dusty Foot Philosopher" and his newest release "Troubadour." He started with "In the Beginning," and immediately pumped out an energetic beat that made people leave the Chik-fil-A stand to see who was performing. By his last song, "Waving Flag," the whole audience was engaged in K'naan's soulful rap. With his charismatic stage presence, we will definitely be seeing more of K'naan in the future.
