No surprise here: Sportsman’s is the place to be on Tuesday nights. Thanks to this bar’s consistent crowd and fun atmosphere, Sportsman’s has been a Tuesday night staple since way back when the freshmen still lived on main campus. Two for one drafts rule the night at this laid-back pub, but don’t let its weeknight status fool you: the line to get into Sportsman’s on Tuesday will usually surpass that at any Vandy-frequented spot on a Thursday or weekend night. This year, many students have moved toward the tactic of actually eating dinner at Sportsman’s and immediately beginning the night’s drinking so as to avoid the 10:00-and-later line (the “bar” is actually a restaurant – irrelevant except for the purposes of aforementioned strategy). If you do arrive later than 10:30, expect to wait in a short line at the front door followed by a line up to an hour and a half long to get upstairs to the more popular pool room — Sportsman’s is divided into two levels, the upstairs being (for unknown reasons) immeasurably more desirable. —Avery Spofford
