Blueskyreality is fast on their way to becoming one of the most intriguing young bands today, showing far more potential and promise than most of the other alternative/rock artists that dominate the radio waves.
Formed just under three years ago in Los Angeles, Blueskyreality immediately embarked on a do-it-yourself journey, fighting to leave their mark in the ever-growing and ever-changing world of music. Bringing to the table a plethora of influences, the band plays a style of music that fuses alternative acoustic music with heavier rock while mixing in plenty of soulful singing, giving their listeners the chance to hear a wide variety of sounds. From their unbelievably deep, heartfelt rendition of "Ain't No Sunshine" and the movingly sincere "Honestly Wrong," to the fast-paced, more upbeat "Believe," BSR showcase a surprising breadth of emotions for a group of such young musicians.
Comfortable in their genre-crossing style, Blueskyreality’s self-described “relentless self-recording and production” and performances gave the band polished, sturdy roots they needed to succeed, and their unrelenting promotions have truly allowed them to grow and flourish. Though the band is now signed to mega-label Universal Records, they first reached the current status of success and popularity they enjoy without any major backing, working instead to achieve recognition through grassroots-style campaigns that involved constant exposure on user-friendly websites like MySpace, PureVolume, Buzznet, and Twitter. Through these mediums, this five piece group has developed a close relationship and comfortable rapport with their fans that is largely unrivaled by other nationally (let alone internationally) recognized and respected acts.
Now, despite their newfound major-label backing, Blueskyreality is once again opting to set out on the path less traveled, particularly by freshly signed, up-and-coming musicians. With the re-release of their EP “The Cabin Sessions,” BSR is choosing to bypass any pushing Universal can provide, instead releasing the EP independently so as to retain complete control and ownership of their material, an incredibly respectable and impressive move considering their up-and-coming nature.
With the help of InGrooves (a digital media promotions, distribution, and marketing company) and independent label Faux Entertainment, Blueskyreality is releasing the EP October 13th. It will contain the songs found on the original “Cabin Sessions” as well as two new ones. While an independent release of this nature may be daunting to other young bands, Blueskyreality is more than prepared for such an effort having built their careers on similar projects.
To further help promote their newest endeavor, BSR is currently on tour as the opener for superstars Third Eye Blind. Come see them as they play in Nashville at the Cannery Ballroom on October 5th. Tickets are $25 in advance or $28 the day of the show. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.
