Vanderbilt baseball will hold its annual Black and Gold scrimmage series beginning tonight at 6 p.m. at Hawkins field. Head Coach Tim Corbin said in a VUCommodores.com video interview that “this series should be competitive enough to give us a read of what we have at this point and what areas we need to improve.” This five game series is the conclusion to the Commodores fall practice period.
Senior Andrew Giobbi and junior Russell Brewer are captaining the Gold team while seniors Brian Harris and Drew Hayes will lead the Black team.
“I think it’s going to take all five games to win the series,” Giobbi said in a VUCommodores.com video interview. “The Gold team has the edge early, but we’re going to do all we can to turn the edge over to us.”
The series continues through Homecoming weekend and are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Sunday, 8 p.m. on Monday before concluding with the final scrimmage at 6p.m. Tuesday. All of the games have free admission and open to the public.
