Alabama and Florida swapped places in this week's rankings after the Tide notched their 19th straight regular season victory, while the Gators were fortunate to escape with a win over Arkansas.
1. Alabama (7-0, 4-0 SEC)
Impressive play by quarterback Greg McElroy and a defense that's allowed just seven touchdowns all season has the Crimson Tide in full command.
2. Florida (6-0, 4-0)
The Gators looked pretty vulnerable in a squeaker over Arkansas, committing four turnovers and surrendering six sacks.
3. LSU (5-1, 3-1)
Fresh off a bye week, the Tigers will host Auburn and Tulane before a showdown in Tuscaloosa that will decide who wins the West.
4. South Carolina (5-2, 2-2)
Steve Spurrier will likely have an aneurysm if his Gamecocks don't take care of business against Vanderbilt. But Columbia native Bobby Johnson has had his number the last two years.
5. Arkansas (3-3, 1-3)
Missed field goals and questionable refereeing in the Swamp have the Razorbacks pondering what might have been. They are better than their record.
6. Tennessee (3-3, 1-2)
Are the Volunteers loads better than last year? Sure. Is Monte Kiffin's defense legit? Yes. Will they snap a two-year losing streak to the Tide? Don't count on it.
7. Auburn (5-2, 2-2)
Kentucky's Wildcat formation gave the Tigers fits in their second consecutive loss after a 5-0 start.
8. Georgia (4-3, 3-2)
The Bulldogs avoided a free fall with a decisive win in Nashville. A.J. Green continues to demonstrate that he is not only one of the most dangerous receivers in the conference, but in the country.
9. Ole Miss (4-2, 1-2)
Other than showing they can beat up on sub-par teams, the Rebels have greatly underachieved this season.
10. Kentucky (3-3, 1-3)
The versatile Randall Cobb has averaged nearly 120 rushing and receiving yards in the last three games for the Wildcats.
11. Mississippi State (3-4, 1-2)
Dan Mullen gets his first shot at upsetting his former employer when Urban Meyer's Gators come to Starkville this weekend.
12. Vanderbilt (2-5, 0-4)
The banged-up Commodores have more questions than answers piling up on offense in what has been a dismal season.
