On Wednesday nights (and maybe even on a Tuesday, if Sportsman’s is over-full) Varsity Grille is a great option for students looking to get their mid-week drink on. Located right next to Kissam on 21st, Varsity is within easy walking distance for residents of both The Commons and main campus. This sports bar includes an easily accessible bar, tables (including booths), an open area and a pool room, all on the same level (eliminating the inconvenient line to get upstairs at Sportsman’s). Varisty’s accommodating attitude toward Vanderbilt students has made the bar an early favorite in spite of its relative newness (Summer 2009).  —Avery Spofford
