During my usual stint of procrastination on a week night I clicked on the trailer for the movie “Uncertainty” which is to be released November 13th. My immediate incentive to do so was provoked by Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s adorably scruffy face staring back at me from the movie poster. I fell in love with him after watching “500 Days of Summer,” but the trailer for his new film left me somewhat disappointed. The movie seems to be a convoluted “time-warp” type story involving two different plotlines caused by the flip of a coin. Gordon-Levitt’s character and his girlfriend (Lynn Collins) stand on the Brooklyn bridge at the start of the trailer and depending on the result of the coin, they either travel to Brooklyn or Manhattan. Dramatic and complicated story lines result involving murder, pregnancy, and what appears to be overly worked emotion and cheap thrills. I love you Joseph, but I’m not “certain” that your new film will be a winner.
