Vanderbilt junior center A.J. Ogilvy was named to the Preseason All-Southeastern Conference 1st Team by the SEC's coaches Monday afternoon.

The 6-foot-11-inch Ogilvy averaged 15.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game in  29 games of action in 2008-09, leading the Commodores in all three categories.

He missed several games due to a nagging heel injury early in the season, but he rebounded to finish the year strong, posting consecutive career-highs in scoring in wins over South Carolina and then-11th-ranked LSU. Ogilvy followed up a 28-point effort against the Gamecocks with a 33-point performance against the Tigers where he also pulled down 10 rebounds.

Ogilvy averaged 17.0 points and 6.7 rebounds his freshman season and was a unanimous selection to the SEC All-Freshman team.

He joins a star-studded group on this year's preseason squad, which includes Kentucky's Patrick Patterson, Mississippi State's Jarvis Varnado and South Carolina's Devan Downey among its eight members.
