In honor of Veterans' Day and the victims of the Ft. Hood shooting, a memorial service will be held 8:30 a.m. on Alumni Lawn, according to VU News release.

Vanderbilt ROTC Honor Guard will raise the flags to half staff and the playing of taps followed by a moment of silence. The Kirkland bell tower will toll 13 times and then the ROTC units will be dismissed.

A more celebratory salute to veterans will be held on Thursday, at 5:30 p.m. at Owen Graduate School of Management. The event will feature the USO Liberty Bells, a singing group from New York that performs 1940 Big Band and pop music. The Vanderbilt ROTC Color Guard, Uncle Sam and a Scottish bagpipe player will also attend.
