Lori Murphy and Lee Pedinoff were elected to be the next Vanderbilt Student Government president and vice president on Thursday afternoon, defeating Aysha Malik and Theo Samets.
 
Murphy and Pedinoff won by 325 votes out of 3,543 cast over the one-and-a-half day voting period, VSG Attorney General Tyler Boyd announced on Sarratt Promenade. The winning team received 1,908 votes (53.9 percent) compared to Malik's and Samets' 1,583 (44.7 percent).
 
About 56 percent of students voted in the election. The senior class, as it was in the primary, led all classes at 69 percent turnout. Sophomores trailed all classes at 41 percent turnout; 55 percent of juniors and 59 percent of freshmen voted.
