LIFE: Halloween hot spots

Halloween is arguably the best holiday of the calendar year. Aside from being an excuse to eat candy, decorate your living space and wear ridiculous outfits without the fear of ridicule, Halloween requires no obligation to spend time with, cook for or give gifts to your family or significant other!

Events:
If you are like me and can’t enter a haunted house without the persuasion and brute force of your friends, you might prefer one of these tame yet festive Halloween events.

Ghouls at Grassmere:
The Nashville Zoo’s annual Halloween celebration with treats, games and haunted hayrides. www.nashvillezoo.org

Hauntings at Hermitage: If you have never been to the home of President Andrew Jackson, now would be a good time to go, as the mansion is decorated for Halloween, and the tours are conducted by “ghosts” of the past. Oct. 28, 5:30 – 9 p.m., visit thehermitage.com for details.

Haunting Halloween Evening Tours at Belle Meade Plantation: This annual event takes place on Friday, Oct. 27 and features an interactive séance, palm readings, ghost stories and hayrides. See bellemeadeplantation.com for details.
