Here is a recent letter I sent to the director@insidevandy.com

Of course these are my personal opinions, but I'd like to see how you all feel about them... so let me know what you think!

To whom it may concern,

As an active InsideVandy user I feel that I should offer my feedback as to some issues I have with the site. I only seek the betterment of an already great resource!
There are two main things:

1. The blogs page is incredibly ill-laid out. The "most read blogs" section rarely changes. We have all read those blogs. It is pointless to keep them in such a prominent position.

I propose:
Move the "Most Read blogs" section to the "Comments" section
Move the "Recent blog posts" section to the "Most Read blogs" section
Move the "Comments" section to the "Recent blog posts" section
Keep the "Staff blogs" section where it is
Do away with the "Community blogs" section

2. I feel that the opinion poll should be moved to the very front page. Perhaps you could put it above "The View Spot" section...

Matt, Thank you for your comments! I appreciate you taking the time to offer feedback on InsideVandy. InsideVandy is a work-in-progress, and we are always looking for ways to improve the site. This is exactly the kind of feedback we need to make InsideVandy better. Soon we will begin a re-evaluation of InsideVandy so we can make some changes to the Web site for the spring semester. I also noticed that the "most read blog" space is a catch 22 if you don't eliminate old blog posts. People want to read "the most read blogs" so if you give people a list of "the most read blogs", then those blogs will keep getting more hits and new blogs will never be able to catch up in hits and enter the list. A simple solution would be to say "most read blogs in the past week (or two)". Another good idea would be to have a list of "blogs most commented on in the past week (or two)". If a discussion is hot and people are making a lot of comments then people are likely to want to read that.
