Students are speculating that Vanderbilt’s Kappa Sigma chapter has had its charter revoked.
Junior Sean Mercado said he heard their charter was being revoked due to the fact that no pledges rushed there this year.
“Their alumni came down and saw what was going on and decided to pull it because (Kappa Sigma) was not very popular,” he said.
However, Kristin Torrey, director of Greek Life, said she would be unable to verify this information until later in the week.
“I have not yet received any official documents from Kappa Sigma saying that their charter is revoked,” she said.
Kappa Sigma President Andrew Brown also said that, after speaking with Torrey, he believed it was best not to comment on the subject until later in the week.
Vanderbilt’s chapter is currently not listed on Kappa Sigma’s national Web site.
