Right now I can easily make a blog post and view all of my blog posts by clicking on "My Blog." I think this concept should be expanded to "My Content" and have "My blog" be a member of "My Content." Using this structure, "My Content" could have new members such as My Photos, My Podcasts, My Opinions, etc., where I could keep track of all of my content (literally).
The above is just a reorganization of information that already exists on InsideVandy.com. What I would like to see come of this is being able to use InsideVandy as a means to submit content to the Hustler. For example if I add some content in "My Opinion" section (which would pretty much look exactly like "My Blog" except named differently) then it should automatically be submitted to the Hustler as content that could be printed in the next issue (it would go under the same review process as if someone submitted a letter to the editor).
Some of you may be wondering what this would accomplish. If you think about the current system, people usually submit opinion content to the Hustler directly and then the opinion content that gets printed in the Hustler is submitted to InsideVandy.
Conceptually the flow of information is something like this:
Student Opinion >>> Hustler Opinion (some content rejected) + Hustler News >>> InsideVandy
This means excluding the blog posts, InsideVandy is just a mirror of the Hustler with the possibility for comments and feedback. If someone submits an opinion piece to the Hustler and it doesn't get printed then their opinion is lost.
What I propose is that everyone submits opinion content to InsideVandy and then the Hustler uses InsideVandy as a pool from which it prints the content that passes its review process. This way all the opinion content exists on InsideVandy so nobody's opinion is excluded and the well written content gets printed so it gets read by a wide audience.
What I think it should be conceptually:
Student Opinion >>> InsideVandy >>> Hustler Opinion (some content rejected) along with,
Hustler News >>> InsideVandy
