Listed here are some of the top stories from the social news site Digg.com for the past week. I have tried to find the stories that I think would be most interesting to the Vanderbilt community. They are roughly listed in chronological order.

1. So Apple wants you to pony up $14.99 for Pixar's Cars when you already own the DVD? Nuh-uh. Don't think so. Seems like you should be able to copy that DVD right to your iPod. You can, provided you have the right tools and some time to kill. With free software and this tutorial, you can copy almost any DVD in your library to your iPod (From Lifehacker, via Digg) Check it out here.

2. Check out this creative use of wood and stained glass in one of the best computer case mods I’ve seen in awhile.

4. For those of you keeping up with our coverage of the Nintendo Wii here is another reason for you to listen up. This article is posted by a man detailing his amazing experience with Nintendo customer service. Looks like Nintendo has done it again!

5. In an effort to increase the productivity of today’s college students a website called NextPath has compiled a list of the Top 10 Web Tools for College Students.

7. For all you MC Escher fans out there – check out this really cool LEGO rendition of one of his greatest works.

8. Ever have a great idea you wanted to pitch to Google? So did this enterprising guy – the catch? He actually got on a plane and flew to Google’s headquarters in Mountain View Colorado and sat in the lobby until they met with him!!

9. Check out this trippy flash game. It’s totally pointless but nonetheless completely entertaining.

10. Quite possibly the coolest idea in a long time – Open Source Cola. The so called “OpenCola” is a brand of cola unique in that the instructions for making it are freely available and modifiable. Anybody can make the drink, and anyone can modify and improve on the recipe as long as they, too, license their recipe under the GNU General Public License…and you thought Open Source only applied to software…
