NEWS: Delta Kappa Epsilon welcomes off-campus society’s members

Twelve new members of the former Phi Delta Theta chapter, not affiliated with the national chapter or the chapter reinstated on campus this spring, will join Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

"This offers a great opportunity for both the brothers of DKE and the pledges," said DKE President Jack Reilly. "It makes sense to join an on-campus fraternity as a result of the freshman commons and end of off-campus housing. This is not a merger; it is a group of freshmen pledging our fraternity."

Director of Greek Life Kristen Torrey said the 12 members who are joining Delta Kappa Epsilon will participate in the new member education process of the fraternity and become fully integrated members of DKE just like any other new member that would join the fraternity.

"This will allow for students that were misled regarding their potential for membership in Phi Delta Theta to have a legitimate fraternity experience," Torrey said. "While an unconventional approach, this has the potential to be an opportunity to create something positive for all parties."
