No. 22 Tennessee (13-4) defeated Men's Tennis 6-1 on a beautiful Friday afternoon at the Currey Tennis Center.
No. 38 Vanderbilt (8-9) only scored a point on Andy Mack's 7-5, 6-4 victory at the six position. The Volunteers won two of the three doubles matches to go up 1-0.
The Vols won five of the six singles matches but only one came in straight sets. Three of the singles matches were decided in the third sets, but the Dores were unable to capitalize as they dropped each one.
Freshman Vijay Paul's three-set match proved to be an inspiring match, offering a glimpse into his promising future.
The Dores will look to rebound on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the nation's top team, the Georgia Bulldogs.
