Rites of Spring overtook Alumni Lawn for the annual two-day concert this weekend.
Grammy Award-winning hard-rock trio Wolfmother and rock ‘n' roll-and-hip-hop fusion band The Roots headlined the show.
Wesley Hodges, chair of The Music Group, said he is incredibly pleased with the outcome of the event.
"I can truly say, from the bottom of my heart, that this year's Rites of Spring was the best one we've ever had," Hodges said. "The Roots was one of the most fun headliners we've ever had."
Freshman Nate DeGroot said it was "one of my favorite weekends this year."
"The atmosphere was incredible. The crowd was really into it. And the performers were great," he said. "I thought the artists were really diverse, and that gave everyone something to listen to."
Freshman Ben Mones said he is already looking forward to next year's Rites.
"I thought Rites was tight, and I had a lot of fun celebrating the weekend before finals," Mones said.
Vanderbilt Programming Board President Mark Mason also said he is happy with the event.
"I can only hope that the general Vanderbilt community enjoyed Rites as much as I did," he said. "VPB and The Music Group strives every year to make Rites better then the year before, but we were very happy with this year's festival."
Hodges said he feels the hard work has paid off.
"We feel like we were able to cater to both music fanatics and the casual listener with the lineup," he said. "Every genre except opera was represented, and it is great to know that everyone had an incredible time."
