On Aug. 23, the Rape Abuse Incest National Network will host a benefit concert at Nashville venue 3rd & Lindsley. It will include performances by Shawn Mullins, Alice Peacock and others.

RAINN, founded in 1994, is the United States’ largest anti-sexual assault organization and operates a hotline and numerous programs to help victims of sexual assault.

In 2006, Nashville residents Andrea Kleid and Jenn Brinn launched the concert series to educate and empower survivors of sexual assault.

Now in its second year, the tour will take place in seven cities around the country, and will feature artists such as Ari Hest, Blue Mother Tupelo and Gary Jules, as well as many others.

The concert is part of a national tour to increase awareness about sexual assault and raise money for RAINN, which hopes to develop an online hotline on the organization’s Web site.

Tickets are $10, and further donations are encouraged. The show will begin at 7 p.m.

A kick-off party to raise initial funds for the main concert will take place Aug. 13 at the Rutledge at 7 p.m.; tickets are $5. The lineup includes Katie Herzig, Kate York and Lowercase Collective.
