TMZ is reporting that Britney Spears' lawyer, Laura Wasser, has submitted papers to the court today to withdraw herself as Britney's lawyer. K-Fed and Britney's custody hearing began today. Reportedly Wasser is walking because Britney will not take her advice in trying to win custody against K-Fed. Laura helped Brit get 50/50 custody which some say was a miracle. Britney will not be alone (Thank God) because she's already hired Marci Levine (Chris Crocker in disguise! Kidding.) to represent her. I would be amused to watch Chris Crocker cry his way through a defense of Britney's parenting skills. Coming soon to youtube... Kidding again, obviously.

UPDATE: Dlisted reports that the "secret witness" Gloria Allred brought to Britney and K-Fed's custody hearing today testified about Brit's drug use and nudity after rehab. Tony Barretto was hired to be her bodyguard when she got out of rehab but was fired in May, because he didn't hear her when she told him to pick up her hat. Tony said he came forward, because being a father himself he became extremely concerned for the safety of Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. He was not cross-examined, so his declaration went "unrefuted and unchallenged." TMZ quipped, "Gloria Allred was just jealous that other lawyers were getting all the attention." Probably! If you read my blog this morning, you would know the contempt I have for Allred. My, is she lame...

Finally, 70s diva Barry Manilow has pulled out of his appearance on "The View" tomorrow because he doesn't believe with Elisabeth Hasselcrack's conservative views. Barry told TMZ, "I strongly disagree with her views. I think she's dangerous and offensive. I will not be on the same stage as her." How lame is that? This story bothers me. I do not want to shove my political views down anyone's throat in particular in this celebrity blog, so I will remain neutral on that, but I have to release the disdain I have for Manilow's actions. I have friends who do not agree with my views, political or other, but you can still get along without having to let them stand in the way. How silly to not appear on a show just because you do not agree with one trivial person. It's not like Manilow has been churning out #1 hits in the last 30 years and all... Whatever.

NO! NOT FINALLY! THIS JUST IN! "Match Game" veteran Brett Somers passed away from stomach and colon cancer at her Connecticut home on Saturday. She was 83. Somers, known for her dry wit and humor as one of the celebrity panelists on the memorable '70s game show, married actor Jack Klugman in 1953 and played his ex-wife on the long-running series, "The Odd Couple." Although they separated in 1974, the couple never divorced. Somers is survived by Klugman, her two sons, Adam and David, and a daughter, Leslie. Mrs. Somers, you will be missed!
