Yahoo News reports that a prison inmate who implicated a former L.A. Police Department officer in the murder of Notorious B.I.G. says he lied about the officer's involvement, a move that provides another twist in a complex and unsolved killing. Waymond Anderson, a former R&B artist now serving a life sentence for murder in a bank robbery case, said in an August 20th deposition that he lied as part of a scam to win a monetary settlement from the city. Anderson's deposition, first reported Wednesday in the Los Angeles Times, states that he was offered a portion of any settlement if he testified that former police Officer Rafael Perez told him that another ex-police officer, David Mack, was involved. Both Mack and Perez have long denied any involvement in the March 9, 1997, murder of the New York rapper, also known as Biggie Smalls. "I don't know David Mack, I don't know Rafael Perez," Anderson said in the deposition. "It was a lie, and I'm ashamed of it." Biggie was 24 when he was gunned down while leaving a music industry party at a Los Angeles museum. His family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit seeking damages from the city. It accuses the Police Department, and specifically Mack, of responsibility for Wallace's death. In his deposition, Anderson accused the family and their lawyer of offering to cut him in for a portion of any award for falsely implicating the police. Perry R. Sanders Jr., the Wallace family's lawyer, denied the allegation, saying, "This is wholesale, made-up-out-of-whole-cloth perjury." Both Mack and Perez have long since left the Police Department. Sigh. This cold case is about as dead as Tupac's. R.I.P., Biggie. I hope Anderson burns forever for committing perjury. J.Lo is giving me ulcers. First, she is pregnant, then she is not. THEN, she is pregnant with twins, and now she is not at all. What is up? Will someone please get his or her facts straight! In a new interview with UsWeekly, the latin diva brushes off the rumors, saying, "No, no! We get this every week! I don’t mind when people talk about this. I get the interest. I’m not the only [celeb] who gets these rumors." UsWeekly pensively adds, "But the newest spate seems to have staying power — despite Anthony issuing his own denial: 'Everyone calls about this every month . . . but, no.'" UsWeekly continues, reminding the public of the "buzz" J.Lo stirred when she appeared this weekend in the U.K. for a performance "in a flowy dress and drinking water." If she is going to have a baby, she might as well just tell the paparazzi before they start sticking their camera up one of those enormous dresses.
