People is reporting that actress Michelle Rodriguez was sentenced yesterday to six months in jail for violating probation in a DUI case. "[She] admitted violating her probation by failing to provide proof of completion of her community service and for consuming alcohol three times while wearing an alcohol-monitoring device," said the L.A. City Attorney's office in a statement." The "Lost" star must report to a Los Angeles County jail by Dec. 24. Superior Court Judge Daviann L. Mitchell also ruled that the actress is not to be granted an early release, despite L.A.'s jail overcrowding. She was also ordered to complete 30 days of road clean-up duty. The City Attorney's office had alleged that Rodriguez turned in a false document showing that she completed one day of service on Sept. 25, court filings show. The actress later stated that she was in New York on that date. Her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Last month, her previous attorney, Richard Beada, said: "We believe this is all due to a clerical error. My client did complete the full 30 days." Rodriguez, 29, had been serving an extended probation term for numerous driving infractions. In May 2006, she served only four hours and 20 minutes of a two-month sentence at the Lynwood, Calif., jail for violating probation, stemming from a DUI arrest in Hawaii in December 2005. She served, however, just over two days in a Honolulu jail in that case. In June 2004, Rodriguez had been placed on three years' probation after pleading no contest to DUI and driving with a suspended license from two separate incidents in the Hollywood area in 2003. What an idiot. As reported yesterday, Bobby Brown suffered a mild heart attack, but now People is reporting that Brown denies it all, saying he is healthy and ready to begin his upcoming tour. "None of it's true," the singer told the Associated Press Radio late Wednesday. "I don't know where the heart attack thing came from – I'm just fine." Reports of the singer having suffered a mild heart attack were confirmed by his rep, Phaedra Parks. She told People "just hours before the singer went on AP Radio – that Brown had been rushed to hospital with chest pains on Tuesday afternoon and was 'recovering nicely.'" Parks told the media that her client was diagnosed as "suffering from a mild heart attack ... they attributed to stress and diet." Contrary to this statement, Brown said the hospital visit was routine. "I did go to the hospital, to just get a checkup, get everything tested out so that I could go on this tour, and everything is fine," Brown said. "The doc gave me a clean bill of health." The doctor probably missed all those drugs in his system, too! Dlisted.com reports that my love, Madonna, is about to part ways with Warner Bros. Records for the concert promoter Live Nation. The deal is said to be worth over $100 Million in exchange for 3 albums and the exclusive rights to promote her concert tours and merchandise. She will be paid in stock and cash. The New York Times reported, " The deal, which was first reported yesterday on The Wall Street Journal’s Web site, is the latest example of how tough times for record labels and concert promoters have set off a free-for-all over the rights to the various revenue streams created when a musician becomes a star. Instead of sharing in only one piece of the income — say, CD sales — companies are angling to share in all of an artist’s business lines, like publishing, merchandise sales and endorsement fees. It also comes as the major record companies are reeling from the loss of historically reliable brand-name acts. Word of Madonna’s likely exit from Warner Brothers, a unit of the publicly held Warner Music Group, came the same day that one of rock’s biggest free agent acts, the acclaimed British band Radiohead, started delivering digital copies of its new album directly to fans, in a big break with industry convention. Another influential free agent band, the Eagles, is selling its new album directly to Wal-Mart Stores." Madonna sold her own label, Maverick Records, recently, so her departure from Warner Bros. was only a matter of time, I suppose. Anyone else psyched for her new album at the end of the year, though???? I AM!!!!! WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! The suits are flying these days! According to the Smoking Gun, Anna Nicole Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, is going after Howard K. Stern. "In the complaint, Arthur contends that Stern conspired with Smith to make defamatory comments about her. The lawsuit...was filed Tuesday in Harris County District Court in Texas. Arthur alleges that Stern 'influenced and controlled' Smith by providing her with prescription drugs, some of which were 'obtained illegally' in Stern's name. Arthur's complaint also describes Stern as a 'manipulative, deceitful, and dangerous person' and 'not the type of man who was likely to have been selected by her daughter as a sexual partner.' Arthur also noted that she knew that Stern's claim to be the father of Smith's daughter Dannielynn was 'highly unlikely because of the type of person Stern is.'" In addition to Stern, "Arthur is suing CBS Studios, which produces Entertainment Tonight, and a Houston TV affiliate which aired [some] allegedly defamatory comments last November. Arthur's lawsuit does not specify monetary damages." I wish these people would stop taking advantage of Anna Nicole's legacy to get what they want. These people should be ashamed. Perez Hilton reports that Britney Spears showed up to court this afternoon (only FIVE hours late) even though she was supposed to show up this morning. Spears pleaded with the Commissioner to give her overnight visitation rights with her kids, Sean Preston & Jayden James. He only allowed her one monitored night a week. The court will have to approve who the monitor is and he or she will not be identified. Lawyers for K-Fed and Brit will decide who that monitor will be. Earlier today, Brit's lawyer asked if Lynne Spears could be the monitor since Brit has "trust issues." For now the current monitor will keep their job until the lawyers decide on somebody else. Both lawyers compromised and agreed to the one night a week visit and it was approved by the commissioner. Brit wanted more, K-Fed wanted less. K-Fed apparently gave in and let Brit have more time with the boys. They will all be back in court on October 26th, days before her new album drops! Wooooo!!! Another cause for celebration!
