“Bubbly” is the debut single from acoustic-folk singer and songwriter Colbie Caillat’s debut album, “Coco,” released in July 2007. Colbie Caillat is noted for her MySpace profile, which became so popular (it currently has 17 million hits) that she became the #1 unsigned singer in her genre for four months, mostly thanks to the popularity of her song, “Bubbly.”

Written by Caillat and Jason Reeves and produced by her father, Ken Caillat ( known for producing for legendary band Fleetwood Mac) “Bubbly” has just this month been certified gold, having sold over 500,000 copies. It was also featured as the iTunes Single of the Week in July. Since early October, the song has rocketed through the top 20 and is currently sitting at #7. The song is also currently #8 on the Pop 100. The song has enjoyed a particularly large amount of success in New Zealand, where it reached #1 on the radio airplay charts and has stayed there for three consecutive weeks.

After going mainstream, the song was altered slightly, adding drums and a few minor changes in the words. On the song, Billboard said “the warm vocals along with a gentle acoustic arrangement effortlessly conjure the idyllic California she calls home.” The song is quite lovely, especially with the splendidly simple lyrics celebrating the beautiful feeling of love becoming “bubbly” in one’s soul. The song is quite a joy and deserves a listen. Check it out on iTunes if you have not yet done so.
