This game is obviously huge. A win gives Vanderbilt bowl eligibility for the first time in 25 years. Last year's match-up between these teams was a slugfest as they combined for over 1,200 yards of offense. Earl Bennett had 220 yards receiving while Chris Nickson shattered his career-high with 446 yards passing. It's a sell-out but the overwhelming majority of the fans in the stands are in Kentucky blue. This promises to be an exciting game. Go 'Dores! 1:11 Mackenzi Adams gets stopped short on a QB draw to force fourth down. Brett Upson punts beautifully and pins Kentucky on its own 9-yard line. 1:14 Screen pass gives Kentucky a first down. Bobby Johnson looks furious; probably wanted a holding call. 1:16 Wildcats convert on 3rd and 8 for their second straight third down-conversion. 1:19 Kentucky punts, and Sean Walker inexplicably tries to pick up a bounce and gets nailed, causing a fumble. Kentucky gets the ball right back at the Vanderbilt 21-yard line. 1:24 Vanderbilt puts up an impressive defensive stand, forcing a 4th and 24 and a punt. Kentucky pins Vanderbilt on its own 1. 1:28 Runs by Adams, Jeff Jennings, and Adams net three yards and force another punt. Adams has yet to even attempt a pass. 1:34 Lones Seiber kicks a 38-yard field goal to put the 'Cats up 3-0. It has been a very impressive showing thus far by the Vanderbilt defense, as Kentucky failed to capitalize on excellent field position. 1:38 Earl Bennett catches Adams' first pass of the game for a 13-yard gain and then gets shoved after the play for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Kentucky. 1:42 1st quarter ends on a sloppy false start penalty on the Commodores; they'll face 3rd and 7 to start the second quarter instead of 3rd and 2. Wilcats 3, Commodores 0.
