The national attention continues to pour in for the No. 12/13 Commodores, who begin Southeastern Conference play tomorrow night against South Carolina.
ESPN.com's Andy Katz named Shan Foster the Co-Player of the Week along with North Carolina's Wayne Ellington in his Weekly Watch. Katz said this about Vanderbilt's sweet-shooting swingman: "Foster is making Derrick Byars, last season's go-to player, a distant memory in Nashville."
In The Tennessean, Maurice Patton pretty much states the obvious - the SEC is down. In another piece, Patton takes a lot each SEC team and revises his preseason rankings.
In The City Paper, Brett Hait has two interesting reads. The first article is an overview of the SEC, while the other story reports that Earl Bennett remains undecided about his future plans, while safety Reshard Langford will return for his senior season.
Langford seemed pleased with his with his feedback from the NFL, which means that I would expect him to be a first-day pick next season. As for Bennett, my hunch is that he ends up leaving, and who can blame him? Other than playing in a bowl game, there is very little left for No. 10 to accomplish here. Stay tuned for an announcement over the next few days.
