Head to Bobby's Idle Hour on 16th Ave., a country and bluegrass music venue lesser known to the Vanderbilt community, and take in its weekly Songwriter's Night spotlight. Whether you're there to belt out your own tunes or listen to the newest in Nashville, the admission is free, and the music starts at 6 p.m.

Friday 1/18
Missouri native and famed musician/producer/arranger Pat Coil will perform live at F. Scott's Restaurant and Jazz Bar. Coil's music spans genres like pop, jazz, R&B and gospel, and he has toured all over the world with artists like Amy Grant and Michael McDonald. Admission is free, the show begins at 7 p.m.

Saturday 1/19
Exit/In is hosting their Battle of the Bands final with artists including Hybris, Faith in Shadows, and Next Years Best. It all starts at 6 p.m. with a cover of $8-10. Check it out.

Sunday 1/20
Ever wonder what a dolceola is? Find out Sunday at the Country Music Hall of Fame, where Andy Cohen will demonstrate how one would play both a regular old guitar and the dolceola.

Monday 1/21
Aspiring artist? If you're looking for a venue, try the Open Mic Night at the Bluebird Cafe, hosted by Barbara Cloyd - there isn't even a cover!

Tuesday 1/22
Give Sportsman's a rest and head downtown to B.B.King's. where Carl Stewart and the B.B. King's men will play smooth jazz and blues from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. Eat some good food, throw back a few and listen to some classic tunes.

Wednesday 1/23
Got eight bucks? The Station Inn plays host tonight to The Farewell Drifters, a new group that meshes folk elements with a bluegrass background. The show starts at 9 p.m.
