The Black Student Alliance's Black History Committee will host "Reviving the Greats" on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center auditorium.
According to Black History Committee Chair Angela Moore, the event will "(honor) the greatest African Americans who have ever lived and their contributions to American society."
The program will feature students performing songs, monologues, skits and other acts as they "revive" a figure in American history. The show is interactive as well; there will be trivia for the audience between performances.
Moore encourages all students, not just blacks, to attend the program.
"Black history is a part of American history; therefore, this program is open to every race and ethnicity (and all BSA events are open to the Vanderbilt campus community)," she said. "(‘Reviving the Greats' is) a chance to learn new things about black history in a creative way, and if that's not enough, there will be free food and prizes."
Moore hopes that students will have fun, but she wants them to learn something as well.
"At the end of the event, many will learn at least one more thing about the contributions of blacks in American history and take pride in the progress blacks have made," she said.
