‘A Time to Heal’
Amnesty International is selling flags on the Wall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as a way to raise awareness for the rape epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in their campaign "A Time to Heal: Fundraising Campaign for Victims of Sexual Violence in the DRC." Each flag represents 100 of the 27,000 reported victims in one province of the DRC in 2006. Students can purchase a flag for $1 and plant it on the lawn next to the Wall.

Are you getting your $40,000’s worth at Vanderbilt? Students are invited to come to McGill Hall's TV lounge from 5 to 6 p.m. to hear Malcolm Getz, economics professor and author of “Investing in College: A Guide for the Perplexed,” speak on "Why Does College Cost So Much?" Attendees will be provided milk and cookies.

Open mic night is an opportunity for students to present original works in an informal environment. All performances are welcome from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall, Room 117.

On Writing, with John Koethe
On Writing is a series of conversations with writers about their practices and eccentricities. Koethe is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and was Milwaukee’s first poet-laureate.

Jazz in The Commons
Students are encouraged to “Support the Music” in The Commons Initiative, a project to bring more live jazz and band performances to Peabody campus. Jazz trumpeter Jon Lijoi and the Blair Jazz Trio will serenade The Commons Dining Room from 6 to 8 p.m.
