Bell to end run with Commodore hoops

Vanderbilt guard Keegan Bell will discontinue his play for the Commodores at the end of spring semester, Kevin Stallings announced Monday.

"We support that decision 100 percent and we wish him well," Stallings said in a release.

Bell said philosophical differences with Stallings led to his decision to transfer.

"I just didn’t feel this was the right place for me," Bell said. "It’s nothing against the coaches, the players or the university. For me to be the player I need to be, I need to be somewhere else.

"Coach and I just didn’t see eye to eye on certain things. Sometimes players just don’t fit into certain strategies."

Bell, a freshman, played in every game as a backup point guard during the 2007-08 season and averaged 2.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Such a shame

Keegan was a great addition to this year's team and he will be missed. I am sad to see him leave, as I definitely thought that he and roommate AJ Ogilivy were going to be paired up for many more years helping win games for the Dores. Best of luck to you, Keegan, and thanks for a great year.
