Tennessee colleges and universities experienced a drop in reported campus crime last year, marking the the third year of decling numbers.
Crimes fell more than 12 percent from 2006.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released its annual Crime on Campus report, detailing 7,371 offenses reported in 2007, down from 8,425 in 2006. More than a third of the reports were for larceny and theft.
Drug offenses were down more than 10 percent; reported rapes rose from 21 to 25.
One murder was reported: Taylor Bradford, a University of Memphis football player, was shot to death during an attempted robbery outside a campus apartment complex in September. Four men, including a student at the school, were charged.
