CRIME ALERT: Simple Assault


The Vanderbilt University Police Department sent a campus-wide e-mail this morning alerting the Vanderbilt community to a reported simple assault. The full text of the e-mail is as follows:

"It was reported to Vanderbilt Police Department that a simple assault occurred during the early morning hours on April 5th. The victim, a student, reported that as she was walking in the area of the Edgehill footbridge and Medical Research Building III an unknown subject approached her from behind and put his arm around her waist. The suspect fled the area after the victim kicked him. A search of the area was conducted with negative results.

Suspect Description:

Suspect #1 Male black, 5’10”, college age, with short black hair. The only clothing description available is that the suspect was wearing a polo shirt.
