Vanderbilt used a big fifth inning and a strong outing by starter Taylor Hill to earn a 7-2 win over Tennessee Tech on Wednesday night at Hawkins Field.
The Commodores (36-13, 14-9 Southeastern Conference) scored all seven runs in the fifth inning, with junior shortstop Ryan Flaherty hitting a two-run single and senior catcher Shea Robin adding a two-run double to break the game open.
Hill pitched 6.2 innings and allowed just one run while striking out six. The freshman improved to 5-2 on the season while Vanderbilt got its fifth straight win.
