Michael R. Snellgrove will join the Vanderbilt University Police Department as the new assistant chief of police.

Snellgrove most recently served as a division commander at Duke University Police Department and will fill the post previously held by Marlon Lynch, VUPD's current police chief.

As assistant police chief, Snellgrove will help oversee the force's 115 commissioned officer and 30 civilian employees.

Snellgrove holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Valdosta State University and is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy.
