Vanderbilt receiver Chris Reinert will miss the rest of the season after having surgery to repair his broken left fibula and tibia. Reinert sustained the injury during Vanderbilt's 24-17 win over South Carolina on Thursday night while blocking for running back Jared Hawkins.
As he was being carted off the field, Reinert waved his arms to pump up the Vanderbilt crowd, who responded with a standing ovation for the fourth-year junior.
Nickelback Darlron Spead will also be sidelined for a time after breaking his left fibula on Thursday night. Spead suffered the fracture after he intercepted a pass and was tackled out of bounds.
