According to the Tennessean, Vanderbilt associate professor of sociology James J. Lang was arrested on Friday for possession of child pornography.
Lang, 64, was receiving computer repair when sexually explicit images of young girls were found on the computer. Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were notified of the situation. A search warrant was then executed on Thursday, and the TBI forensics analysis found "images and videos of child pornography."
Lang is an associate professor and the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the sociology department.
His first court appearance is today in Nashville. According to interim dean Carolyn Dever, Lang is on paid leave pending further investigation.
