This week, National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities at Vanderbilt are holding Continuous Open Recruitment (COR).

In this process, female upperclassmen who did not partake in or dropped out of rush last spring have the opportunity to join a sorority this semester.

Fall rush is a chance for girls to either try the sorority process again or for a first time. Some of the students who go through this process are sophomores who weren't sure if they wanted to rush as freshmen. Sophomore Carrie Fry decided not to rush during the spring of her freshman year.

"I just needed some time to decide if this is what I wanted to do," said Fry.
"It seems like a great way to get involved. A lot of successful people seem to be a part of the Greek system," said Laura Regan, a transfer student who wants to further integrate herself into the Vanderbilt community.

In a less formal manner than spring rush, sororities on Vanderbilt's campus hold an open house for girls interested in their chapter.

After the open house, some of the sororities invite girls back for small events and then potentially invite them to join their house.

Women going through COR visited sorority houses on Tuesday, and next week sororities will offer bids to upperclassmen who will then have 24 hours to accept or decline the invitation for membership.
