CROSS COUNTRY: Men's and women's teams win Commodore Classic


Despite both teams missing one of their top runners, the Vanderbilt men's and women's cross country teams won their Commodore Classic races on Saturday at Percy Warner Park.

Freshman Jenner Kizer led the men, coming in fourth overall with a time of 26:39 in the 8K race. Thomas Davis, Kyle Rewick and Rob Whiting also had top-10 finishes, a very strong, pack-oriented effort that led the Commodores to victory. The Commodores had

The Vanderbilt women ran a dominant 5K race, finishing with just 31 points to second-place Albany's 85. Sophomore Rita Jorgensen won the race with a time of 17:57 to lead Vanderbilt, with all five runners finishing in the top 13.

"This was about us growing up as a team," coach Steve Keith said. "It's obviously positive to run as a team and win as a group."
