Dennis Hall, a professor of physics and electrical engineering, has been named the associate provost for research and dean of the Graduate School, according to
the Vanderbilt News Service.
As dean, Hall will also serve as the chief academic officer of the Graduate School and chief research officer for activities involving faculty in the College of Arts and Science, the School of Engineering, the Divinity School, the Law School, the Blair School of Music, the Owen Graduate School of Management and Peabody College of Education and Human Development.
"Dennis Hall has been a great champion of graduate education," said Richard McCarty, provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs. "In addition, he has developed innovative programs to support our graduate students and to enrich their educational and research opportunities."
Hall works closely with Vanderbilt University Medical Center overseeing a number of university-wide activities and interests. He also oversees the Jean and Alexander Heard Library system and Vanderbilt University Press and serves as a continuing member of the Promotion and Tenure Review Committee.
