Though waltzing down the red carpet is a far cry from reality for most of us, anyone can try taking a hint from those small screen stars by donning something dazzling. If you need a dress for an upcoming event, break away from the classic LBD and opt for an azure Marc Jacobs cocktail dress from his 2009 Resort collection. The trick here is to wear just one item of lavish color per outfit — no one wants to look plum loco!

If a statement top is a little too intense for you, why not accent a neutral outfit with a striking accessory? Try Banana Republic’s oversized croc-embossed clutches in lilac or peacock, paired with a refined nude dress. Or, if you’re feeling super funky, trade in those boring tortoise shell wayfarer sunglasses for a pair of bright blue Ray Bans for a look that will really put you in the limelight.
