On Friday, November 7th, the modern day comedy, Role Play, will debut in the Neely Theatre at 8pm. The play revolves around the dinner party of characters Julie-Ann and Justin, who are expecting to announce their engagement to their visiting parents. However, when the neighbors upstairs, dancer Paige Petite and security guard Mickey, get entangled in the already-elaborate event, uproarious and witty chaos ensues. "Everybody's been in the situation of awkwardly meeting someone else's parents for the first time or being embarrassed by your own family so we all have those issues, but this is presented more over the top and exaggerated," states Clare Fernandez, actress. The main conflict is centered around these evolving and intertwined relationships in a farcical way. While it may be extreme, the high degree of scenic realism and the natural chemistry of the actors make the play very relatable and captivating. "The last play, Our Town, made you cry after the show, but this show will make you cry with laughter," states Jack Henderson, actor. RolePlay will be performed at 8 p.m. Nov. 7, 8, 13, 14, 15 and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 9. Admission is free for undergraduates, $10 for the general public, $7 for graduate and professional students. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Neely Auditorium box office at (615) 322-2404.
