A balanced scoring attack led by junior Meredith Marsh's sharp 3-point shooting propelled the Vanderbilt women's basketball team to an 85-51 victory Friday night over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
10 different players scored in Vanderbilt's home opener, with Marsh leading the way with 15 points on 5-10 shooting from beyond the arc. The 12th-ranked Commodores (1-0) held the Islanders to 36 percent shooting and forced 25 turnovers.
Sophomore Hannah Tuomi scored 14 points and senior Christina Wirth added nine. Sophomore guard Jence Rhoads dished out nine assists.
Vanderbilt visits Western Kentucky University on Sunday before coming home for another game next Wednesday.
