This week, members of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity began their fall philanthropy event, "Get on the Ball."
The event entails rolling a 6-foot beach ball throughout the campus while getting as many people as possible sign it. With each signature, local businesses, friends and families have pledged to donate a few cents. Students are also welcome to donate money to the change jar.
At the end of the week, Zeta Beta Tau will give 100 percent of the proceeds to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital located at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
"Get on the Ball" has been in existence for three years and has seen remarkable results.
"Our success is due to all the brothers who volunteer a few hours of their time to roll the ball around campus," said Community Service and Philanthropy Chair junior Nick Williams. "Last year, we raised roughly $2,380 from nearly 5,000 signatures."
The gigantic ball can be found on the Wall. However, Zeta Beta Tau will also bring it to various places on campus and to the basketball games tonight and Thursday night.
