ESPN's Outside the Lines did a report on Vanderbilt's unusual manuever of dissolving the athletic department and placing it under student life, a move engineered by Chancellor Gordon Gee back in 2003.

Since the unorthodox decision, Commodore athletics have managed to thrive in the toughest conference in the country, the SEC, and Vanderbilt officials, coaches and athletes spoke with ESPN about the decision and how it has benefitted the school both in academics and athletics.
