Upperclassmen experience new Move Crew Program
Upperclassmen started the new school year by helping freshmen move into The Commons by participating in Move Crew. This semester's Move Crew experience involved not only helping freshmen move in but also participating in a leadership camp to develop team-building and leadership skills.

Gulf Coast evacuates
Another hurricane season was underway as many students from Tulane University fled to Vanderbilt to escape Gustav. Students were out of school for about a week and stayed with friends and complimented how accommodating Vanderbilt had been.

New LGBTQI center opens for student use
This new resource was created to build a sense of community on campus. The K.C. Potter Center's goal is to raise awareness about gender and sexuality issues, providing various resources such as a full-time staff.

VSG proposal to aid students studying abroad in summer
The Global Summer Fellows Program proposed by VSG now helps students deal with the price of studying abroad by setting aside $250,000 to distribute among students going abroad during the summer who demonstrate need.

VSG teams with Charles Davis Foundation to Sponsor Angel Tree
VSG concluded the year with the philanthropy event Angel Tree, sponsoring over 400 children whom they gave toys and clothing. Chicago Bulls player Charles Davis was present as well, reaching out to the community and to the children.
