In response to the comments made about Panhellenic Council and sorority recruitment, we would like to set the record straight to avoid any rumors circulating.  There is NOT a rule that states that members of sororities cannot interact with freshman.  The Panhellenic Council encourages normal campus interaction between freshman and sorority members through classes and organizations.  The rules we have in place for our members are to provide an even field for each chapter as women go through the recruitment process as well as prevent uncomfortable situations for freshman women.  They are not created to prevent freshman from learning about our chapters and the recruitment process.  If someone feels that these rules are being broken, we hope that they would come to us so that we can take necessary action.  I am sad that members of our chapters misconstrue the policies we have in place in a negative way.  The Panhellenic Council is working to make recruitment a fair process.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me or the Office of Greek Life (339 Sarratt, greeklife@vanderbilt.edu)
