Freshman distance runner Jordan White ran to a top-10 finish in the 800-meter run in her first collegiate track meet to lead the Commodore track and field team at the Kentucky Invitational. White, competing in a field of 28 runners, kept pace with the top-tier runners by turning in a time of 2:16.66, finishing in ninth place. The Old Chatham, N.Y., native finished second among the nine freshmen competing in the 800.

Cross country standout sophomore Rita Jorgensen posted an 11th place finish in the 1-mile run after crossing the finish line at the 5:02.43 mark. Fellow sophomore Kate Southcote-Want also competed in the mile, running a 5:21.99 to finish in 24th place.

The Commodores had a strong showing in the 3000-meter run with three runners finishing in the top 17 of the 49 total competitors. Sophomore Kristabel Doebel-Hickok led the Commodore fleet with a 10:06.34, finishing in 15th place. Freshman Louise Hannallah and sophomore Adrienne DiRaddo kept pace with Doebel-Hickok to finish in 16th and 17th. Senior Amanda Scott crossed the tape at 10:35.15, placing
25th.

Freshman Teegan Hill recorded Vanderbilt¨?s fastest 200-meter time (25.07), good for 17th place. Sophomore Taylor Jackson, freshman Josalyn White and sophomore Sheri Sullivan also competed in the open 200, posting times of 25.97, 26.55 and 26.77, respectively.

The Vanderbilt track and field team will be action next weekend as it travels north to Bloomington, Ind., to compete in the Indiana Invitational.
